Dr. Umesh Pratap currently working as Assistant Professor in Dept. of Chemistry, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology since 2012.  He has obtained masters (Gold medal) and  Ph.D degree from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad.

His area of interest is organic synthesis, heterocyclic chemistry, biocatalysis especially whole cell biocatalysis and synthetic methodology development. His group explores the catalytical potential of baker's yeast and lipases in organic synthesis which follows the green chemistry principles.
